relationships

Shirley Renfrew Partridge:
Kids your age tend to fall in love very easily, sometimes even give up other relationships for what they think is love. Now I know you think you're in love with Laurie, but love at your age can pass just as quickly as it came, and your relationship as brothers is too much to give up for what could be a passing crush. What I'm trying to say is: what you think now will last forever, probably won't; what you're *sacrificing* *will*... You have no idea what I'm trying to say, do you?

Bianchi:
You mean you saw the man? You can identify the murderer?

Mrs. Hubbard:
I mean nothing of the kind. I mean there was a man in my compartment last night. It was pitch dark, of course, and my eyes were closed in terror...

Bianchi:
Then how did you know it was a man?

Mrs. Hubbard:
Because I've enjoyed very warm relationships with both my husbands.

Bianchi:
With your eyes closed.

Mrs. Hubbard:
That helped.

These days, relationships with neighbors can be... quite complicated. You know, little things that get blown up out of all proportion? You know what I mean?

No, no I don't. I mind my own business.

Alvy Singer:
[addressing the camera] There's an old joke - um... two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know; and such small portions." Well, that's essentially how I feel about life - full of loneliness, and misery, and suffering, and unhappiness, and it's all over much too quickly. The... the other important joke, for me, is one that's usually attributed to Groucho Marx; but, I think it appears originally in Freud's "Wit and Its Relation to the Unconscious," and it goes like this - I'm paraphrasing - um, "I would never want to belong to any club that would have someone like me for a member." That's the key joke of my adult life, in terms of my relationships with women.

Dr. Margo Hunt:
Can I tell you a secret I've never told anyone before?

Bunny:
Sure.

Dr. Margo Hunt:
In a way, Jim is right; I am afraid of men. My relationships have been, well, I've had a lot of one-night stands. A little to drink, you know, give myself an excuse, then I subconsciously fall for jerks I know I'll never be emotionally involved with. It's all so empty, passionless, really. I guess deep down I'm afraid that there can never be any real respect or equality between the sexes, not really. I've avoided commitment because I'm afraid I'll be emotionally dominated by my lover or equally sad that I dominate him. I guess that seems kind of strange, huh?

Bunny:
Can I tell you something too, Dr. Hunt, something I've never told anybody before?

Dr. Margo Hunt:
Of course, Bunny, I'm glad we get to share this.

Bunny:
Well, sometimes when I'm with a guy, I wish that he'd tie me up with red licorice ropes, and then spank me, and then he'd eat the ropes, and then he'd free me, and then we'd make love while the Philharmonic played "Bolero".

Dr. Margo Hunt:
Thank you, Bunny, you've really put my thoughts in perspective.

Bunny:
I feel better too.

This is a bad tradition in Chinese society. They live in relationships and bribery. Anything can be solved with money. The situation is worsening and the problem is difficult to solve.

Governor Maclahose:
As long as we have determination, I'll clear them once I commence work.

Former Governor Trench:
What will you do if there's a rock in front of your path?

Governor Maclahose:
Move it.

[He bends down to pick up a rock]

Former Governor Trench:

Austin Powers:
No, don't be sorry, baby. You're right to be suspicious. I shagged her.

Vanessa Kensington:
What?

Austin Powers:
I shagged her rotten, baby, yeah!

Vanessa Kensington:
Did you used protection ?

Austin Powers:
