Brody appeared in "Summer of Sam," "Liberty Heights," and "Oxygen" in 1999 and "Harrison's Flowers" in 2000. In 2001, he played Sam Saphiro in "Bread and Roses" and was also seen in "Love the Hard Way" and "The Affair of the Necklace."The actor again showed his potential stay quality in "Dummy" (2002). Roman Polansky cast Brody in his controversial movie "The Pianist" in 2002. To prepare for his starring role, Brody withdrew for months, gave up his apartment and car, lost weight and learned how to play Chopin on the piano. The film became a tremendous hit and awarded Brody with an Oscar for Best Actor.Brody has been compared to Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino for his acting skills and soulful looks. After "The Pianist," Brody was seen in "The Singing Detective" (2003) and "The Village" (2004).
