I would love to have a more earnest prayer life! In my life, prayer is the single most difficult discipline. I love God and there's something in me that would rather do things for God than talk to God. I'm not by nature a mystical, devotional person. I like to do things. And so it's a challenge for me to have a faithful prayer life, but I know God loves me and He's not mad at me. He just wishes I would slow down and turn things over to Him. And that's what I think you achieve through prayer.

The cross is where God forgave his children without lowering his standards.

My conversations with Trump supporters have left me with more questions than answers.

One person told me that Christians believe in a king. We believe in a King Jesus who oversees the affairs of mankind. Maybe we're reaching for an earthly king.

I'm protective of the reputation of Christ and the church.

The Bible urges us to be respectful to all people, especially people with whom we have disagreements, to never libel people, to never label people.

My concern is that somebody would make a decision against Christianity because of Mr. Trump's behavior.

I do believe that leaders have to be held to a higher standard, especially Christian leaders. I put myself in that camp.

It deeply concerns me that somebody who knows little or nothing about the Christian faith would hear Mr. Trump call himself a Christian and then make a decision based on the Christian faith, based on his behavior.

I would not have said anything about Mr. Trump, never - I would never have said anything if he didn't call himself a Christian. It'd be none of my business whatsoever to make any comments about his language, his vulgarities, his slander of people, but I was deeply troubled ... that here's a man who holds up a Bible one day, and calls a lady \'bimbo\' the next.

There was a time I wanted to go into politics. And so all of a sudden, here I am, I guess. I'm in the thick of it.

I'd like to think I'm going upriver in talking about world-view topics rather than particular political or controversial topics.

Kind of the bottom line for me, I don't think people come to the church where I preach to hear my view on politics.

If you concern yourself with your neighbor's talents, you'll neglect your own. But if you concern yourself with yours, you could inspire both!

Jesus took your punishment, and God gave you credit for Jesus' perfection.

Waiting is a sustained effort to stay focused on God through prayer and belief.

Jesus humbled himself. He went from commanding angels to sleeping in the straw. From holding stars to clutching Mary's finger. The palm that held the universe took the nail of a soldier. Why? Because that's what love does. It puts the beloved before itself.

A Christian in his surroundings should encourage everyone to be better, instead of being the one who stoops to be like everyone else.

It's nothing mystical, necessarily. It's nothing secretive. It's just what we do with our body we do with our soul.

Fear creates a form of spiritual amnesia

You will never forgive anyone more than God has already forgiven you.

Christ entered our world. As a result, we can enter His.

He promises a lamp unto our feet, not a crystal ball into the future.

I think it's noteworthy that the Almighty didn't act high and mighty. The Holy One wasn't holier-than-thou. The One who knew it all wasn't a know-it-all. The One who made the stars didn't keep his head in them. The One who owns all the stuff of earth never strutted it.

As long as you are stationary, no one will complain. Dogs don't bark at parked cars.

God does not exist to make a big deal out of us. We exist to make a big deal out of him. It's not about you. It's not about me. It's all about him.

When our deepest desire is not the things of God, or a favor from God, but God Himself, we cross a threshold.

We're important, but not essential; valuable, but not indispensable. We have a part in the play, but we are not the main act. A song to sing, but we are not the featured voice. God is.

When you give a gift to one of God's children, you give a gift to God.

Actions in heaven begin when someone prays on earth. What an amazing thought!
