"Find a nice guy. Find a sensitive guy." Chad Michael Murray Blue-eyed,
blonde-haired model and actor Chad Michael Murray caught attention while
starring as loner Lucas Scott in the WB 2003 popular teen soap One Tree Hill.
Previously, he was noticed for guest starring in the hit series Gilmore Girls
(as Tristan DuGrey, 2000-2001) and Dawson's Creek (as Charlie Todd, 2001-2002).
His notable film work includes The Lone Ranger TV), Freaky Friday (both in
2003), A Cinderella Story (2004) and House of Wax (2005). As a model, Murray has
modeled for such fashion houses as Sketchers, Tommy Hilfiger and Gucci.
In January of 2005, 6-foot tall Murray was listed as one of TV Guide's 25
Greatest Teen Idols. As for his personal life, he recently wed his One Tree Hill
costar Sophia Bush. Behind the screen, Murray is an anti-drug role model for
kids and an activist for children and teen charities. About charity goals Murray
commented, "Kids being drug free. I always want kids to be allowed to have a
chance or a shot in life."
Childhood and Family:
A Buffalo, New York native, model and actor Chad Michael Murray was born on
August 24, 1981. Chad has five siblings, sister Shannon and brothers Rex, Nick,
Brandon and Tyler (half brother). After his mother abandoned the family when
Chad was 10 years old, he and his siblings were raised by their air traffic
Chad attended the Clarence High School in New York. While playing football for
his high school team, Chad, nicknamed The Chad, received an injury and had to be
hospitalized. In the hospital he met a nurse who suggested he pursue a modeling
career. Chad later received a scholarship from a local modeling agency to
perform at a modeling competition in Orlando. After graduating from high school
in 1999, he decided to pursue his dream career of acting.

During the making of the WB drama One Tree Hill in 2003, Chad met and dated his
costar actress Sophia Bush (born on July 8, 1982). The couple became engaged in
May 2004 and later exchanged wedding vows on April 16, 2005 at the Casa del Mar
Hotel in Santa Monica.
One Tree Hill Loner
Chad Michael Murray was once a newspaper boy, a donut shop doorkeeper and a
receptionist for a limousine company before he won a scholarship from a local
modeling agency to join a modeling competition in Orlando. His performance
attracted a Los Angeles agent's attention who later sent him to Hollywood. In
the new destination, Chad landed jobs as a model for such fashion houses as
Gucci, Tommy Hilfiger, and Sketchers.
In March of 2000, Chad appeared on television. His first job was as a guest in
an episode of the drama comedy Undressed. Afterwards, he caught the audience's
attention while playing the recurrent role of Rory's (Alexis Bledel) brash
classmate Tristan DuGrey (2000-2001) in the long-living family comedy series
Gilmore Girls. While working on the sitcom, he also appeared as a guest in an
episode of the drama mystery show, Diagnosis Murder (November, 2000).
Another notable role came in 2001 when Chad was cast in the recurrent role of
Charlie Todd (2001-2002), the love interest to both Joey (Katie Holmes) and Jen
(Michelle Williams), in the drama series Dawson Creek. Meanwhile, he played bit
parts in the TV drama movie Aftermath (with Meredith Baxter Birney and Robert
Ulrich) and the big screen's fantasy thriller Megiddo: The Omega Code 2 (both in
2003 saw Chad portraying the heroic titular role of Lone Ranger/Luke Hartman
(2003, TV) in the western action movie directed by Jack Bender. He also
costarred with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan in Mark Waters' film, inspired
by Mary Rodgers' novel, the drama comedy Freaky Friday. Thanks to character
Jake, Chad received a Teen Choice Award.
In the same year, Chad won his most famous role. Mark Schwahn cast him to play
the lead role of Lucas Scott, a loner and the only child of a single working
mom, in his teen drama series One Tree Hill (also starring James Lafferty). Both
the series and his character became an instant hit, giving Chad a Teen Choice
Award for TV Breakout Star.

More silver screen work arrived in the following years. Chad became Hilary
Duff's cyber soul mate, the high school's super popular quarterback Austin Ames,
in Mark Rosman's romantic comedy, A Cinderella Story (2004). He also debuted on
teenage magazine covers and fronted the Tiger Beat's cover in the November 2004
Recently, Chad teamed with Elisha Cuthbert, Paris Hilton, Jared Padalecki and
Jon Abrahams in Jaume Serra's suspense-horror House of Wax (2005). The remake of
the 1953 Vincent Price movie is about a group of college students on their way
to a college football game who fall prey to a pair of murderous brothers in an
abandoned small town.

liberties. We did a lot of things you've never seen before. Our director, Jaume
(Serra), is total a badass! My character is a rebel. He could have accomplished
anything in life, but because of his insecurities, he chooses to take another

Chad will add to his acting resume more film projects next year. He is
reportedly starring in the forthcoming Warner Bros' motion picture, the drama
Stealing Cars. In the film written by Will Aldis and Steve Mackall, Chad will
portray a rebellious teen who turns criminal after blaming himself for his
