Mark Dacascos was born in Hawaii to parents who were both martial arts champions. Mark's looks and athletic prowess make him a natural for the role of Mani. He came to acting after making his mark as a Kung Fu specialist winning the European championships at the age of eighteen. His first role was in Wayne Wang's DIM SUM in 1985, followed by a number of parts showcasing his spectacular martial arts skills. His assured performance in the title role of Christophe Gans' first feature CRYING FREEMAN brought him to a wider audience and drew admiration for his ability to perform all his own stunts. He played one of Marion Brando's creations in THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU and took the lead in the TV series THE CROW: STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN.Source:
